36. What is FOIL and how would it pertain to me?
FOIL is the acronym for the Freedom of Information Law. The amended Freedom of Information Law, which took effect on January 1, 1978, gives you the right of access to many public records. The Village of Pittsford has adopted regulations governing when, where, and how you can see public records.

37. How do I go about obtaining Village records and is there a cost to view the records?
There is an application for access to public records. Upon receipts and review of the application, a notice of decision is sent within five business days as to the disclosure and availability of the requested document(s). If any request is denied as prescribed by law, the denial will be furnished to the applicant in writing. There may be a small fee for records requested. In the event it is an audio tape recording the fee shall be the cost of reproducing the tape.

38. Where do I find out about events that happen in the Village?
As the Village obtains any information regarding upcoming events, they will be posted to the Village site in event date order under the News and Events section of this site.

39. Can I pay my village taxes in installments?
Village taxes are accepted in one full payment either by cash or by a check made payable to the Village of Pittsford.

40. Are there any other Village bills that are mailed out?
Village property taxes and sewer rents are the only bills that are sent out. The exception to this is the requirement of an applicant to one of the boards for consultant or engineering services.
